The left three images show lamellipodia projections (arrows) when there was no flow. The right two images show the cells retaining a spherical shape while exposed to fluid shear stress. In some cases, there were only small lamellipodia projections, while in other instances, lamellipodia were much larger (e.g., cell 1). The block arrows show the general direction of flow.
